Flat Roofing in Sidcup, Greenwich & Kent
Flat roofs fail more often than pitched roofs, almost always because of the material or the detailing. We cover all aspects of flat roofing across Sidcup, Greenwich and Kent — felt systems, Restec liquid systems and rubber systems — on extensions, garages, dormers, balconies and communal walkways, with every outlet, upstand and edge sealed properly.
Three systems, and when we use each
Restec liquid systems. We are Restec certified, and a liquid system gives a seamless, hard-wearing surface with no joints to fail. It can be finished with quartz chippings for foot traffic, which makes it our first choice for walkways, balconies and any roof people need to walk on. Our Greenwich project used a three-layer Restec build over failing asphalt — Restec themselves featured it on their own channels.
Rubber systems. A single-sheet EPDM membrane goes down quickly with very few joints, and it is an excellent, long-lasting choice for garages, extensions and larger simple roofs.
Felt systems. High-performance torch-on felt remains a cost-effective and genuinely durable option, particularly for repairs, smaller roofs and outbuildings where the budget matters.
We will tell you honestly which of the three suits your roof, how it will be used and what you want to spend — not simply quote for whichever we prefer to fit.
The details that stop flat roofs leaking
Most flat roof leaks start at the edges: at upstands against walls, around outlets, at drip edges and where the roof meets a pitched roof or parapet. We form these details carefully, use the correct trims and make sure the roof falls to its outlets so water does not pond.
Common problems
Problems our flat roofing service solves
-
Ponding water
Standing water after rain means the roof has no fall and the covering will degrade quickly.
-
Cracked or blistered felt
Old felt splits in the sun and blisters as trapped moisture expands.
-
Leaks at upstands and outlets
The most common failure point on any flat roof, usually poor original detailing.
-
Failed asphalt walkways
Communal walkways on flats crack and let water through to the flats below.
-
Damp in an extension or garage
Often traced to a flat roof at the end of its life.
-
Moss and vegetation
Plant growth in a flat roof is a sign the surface is holding water.
